LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER POLICIES

HOURS OF OPERATION: 

  • Monday - Friday during school hours

  • 7:30-8:00 am- Check-in/out; Quiet Reading Time; AR testing (with permission from teacher.

  • During class- Teachers may send students to check in/out; AR test; quiet read

  • Classes will be held in the library on days previously scheduled by teachers.

  • Students will not be charged for overdue books, however students are strongly encouraged to bring their library books back within 3 weeks of check out, or to renew the book.

  • Students will be charged to replace lost or damaged books. 

CHECK OUT POLICY:

  • Two books may be checked out at a time.

  • Books may be checked out for three weeks at  time and renewed if more time is necessary.

BOOK SELECTION POLICY:

  • Books are purchased with the following based on the age range recommended by the publisher: either by grades 4-8 (considered middle grades) or grades 7-12 (considered young adult)​.

  • Considering our grade range of 6-8, some books considered appropriate for 7th or 8th grade may not be considered appropriate for 6th graders. 

  • It is the responsibility of the student and parent to discuss what books the student is reading and for the parent to determine if that book is appropriate for them.  Book choice is a private matter between a child and their parent and should not be censored by any outside person. 

  • It is not the library's responsibility to monitor the books a student chooses to check out. 

  • If a student checks out a book that they and/or their parent do not find appropriate for them, they may return their book and select something else.
